Manufacturing Software Development Services

Manufacturing software succeeds or fails on the shop floor, not in the specification. An operator wearing gloves at a noisy station, a technician under a machine with no signal, an inspector at a bench with a batch waiting: if the system takes too many actions or stops working when the network drops, they go back to paper and the data you were building the whole system to obtain never arrives. We have seen well specified systems abandoned for exactly this reason, and we design from the station outward because of it.

Who benefits from Manufacturing Software Development Services - AgileTech Vietnam

Who can Benefit from Custom Manufacturing Software?

Plants Running on Paper and Spreadsheets

Production is tracked on travellers, preventive schedules live in a workbook, and quality records sit in folders. The data exists but arrives too late to act on, and assembling the history for one batch takes days. The practical route forward is one line or one system at a time, with capture simple enough that history starts accumulating immediately rather than a plant wide rollout that concentrates all the risk in one weekend.

Manufacturers Whose ERP Cannot Reach the Floor

The ERP plans and accounts competently but its transaction model is too coarse and too slow for station level work, so shop floor reality is invisible between shift end totals. This is the most common situation we are called into, and the answer is not replacing the ERP. It is building the execution layer beneath it and integrating properly, so the ERP keeps doing what it does well.

Operations Facing Customer or Sector Audits

Customers audit you, or your sector requires demonstrable control, and each audit costs days of preparation plus findings from gaps nobody knew about. The measure that matters is how long it takes to assemble the complete record for a batch made eight months ago. When that is a query rather than a search, audit preparation stops being a project.

Capital Intensive Plants Where Downtime Is Expensive

Where an hour of unplanned stoppage costs a large amount, reliability data and condition based maintenance triggers pay for themselves quickly. These plants usually have better sensor coverage on their critical assets, so genuine condition monitoring is viable where it matters even if not across the whole estate. The evidence also builds the capital case for replacement decisions.

High Mix Operations Losing Capacity to Changeovers

Where setup time depends on the sequence of jobs, scheduling decisions affect output more than machine speed does. Sequence grouping can recover real capacity with no capital spend. The prerequisite is accurate sequence dependent setup data, which usually has to be measured rather than retrieved, because existing records tend to hold one average that hides all the variation.

AgileTech team building

We walk the floor before we estimate

Specifications written without watching the work describe a factory that does not exist. We spend time at the stations first, observing what operators record, where the paper is, and which workarounds exist. Workarounds are information rather than indiscipline: each one marks a place where the current system does not fit reality. This step routinely changes scope, and it changes it before you have paid for the wrong thing.

Equipment connectivity surveyed, not assumed

Mixed age asset bases are normal. Some machines expose rich data over OPC UA, some offer a single contact, some offer nothing. We produce a per machine statement of what can be read before giving an estimate. This sometimes reduces the automation a client hoped for, and delivering that news at the start is far better than at commissioning, which is when it usually surfaces.

Honest about predictive maintenance and optimisation

Condition based triggers on measured runtime are reliable and capture most of the available benefit. Genuine failure prediction needs dense sensor data and enough recorded failures to learn from, and most plants have neither for most assets. The same applies to scheduling: many plants gain more from a feasible schedule on clean data than from a sophisticated solver. We say which case you are in rather than selling the more expensive one.

Built for a plant that cannot stop

Station clients buffer locally and keep working when the network fails, components deploy independently, and releases are sequenced around planned downtime. We treat a mid shift outage as a production incident with a cost attached, because that is what it is, and we design to avoid needing one.

  • delivering software from Hanoi, including operational systems that run in physically demanding environments.
  • in one location, so an integration team and a station interface team can work in the same room on the same clock.
  • completed, with a 90% customer satisfaction rate and a 4.9/5 rating on Clutch.
  • certified quality and information security management for our own operations. These are the only certifications we hold, and they do not certify your product, process, or sector compliance. Your quality function defines those requirements and we implement and evidence them.
  • every page in this practice describes capability and method. Where we have no delivered example to cite, we say so rather than implying one, and no client name, metric, or case study appears anywhere without permission and a real project behind it.
  • source, infrastructure definitions, and documentation are delivered into your repositories as we go. Handover assumes your team or a local integrator maintains this without us, which is the realistic expectation for a system with a fifteen year asset lifecycle.

A structured six-phase delivery approach that keeps quality, transparency, and your manufacturing software development goals aligned from discovery to ongoing evolution.

AgileTech software delivery process A six step delivery workflow: requirement analysis, planning and design, development, quality assurance, deployment, then maintenance and support. 01 RequirementAnalysis 02 Planning &Design 03 Development 04 QualityAssurance 05 Deployment 06 Maintenance &Support
01

Observe the work before specifying it

Time at the stations, watching real production, real inspection, and real maintenance. We record how many actions each task takes today and where information is written down outside the system. This is the cheapest hour of the project and it consistently reveals constraints that no document mentions.

02

Survey equipment and state what is readable

Each machine assessed for what data it exposes and by which protocol, producing a per asset statement before any estimate. Where a machine cannot be integrated, operator entry is designed in deliberately rather than left as a gap that appears at commissioning.

03

Fix the data model decisions that cannot be changed later

Traceability granularity, asset hierarchy depth, and failure cause taxonomy are decided with your quality and maintenance teams before build. Each constrains what the system can ever tell you, and each is expensive or impossible to restructure once history has accumulated against it.

04

Build one station or one line and test it in place

A single interface built and used in real conditions, with gloves, real scanners, real lighting, and the network deliberately interrupted. The people who will use it tell us what is wrong and it is corrected before the pattern is repeated. One tested station is worth more than a complete design nobody has stood in front of.

05

Extend with integration behind each step

Coverage grows line by line or system by system, adding machine integration, ERP exchange, and cross system links as each is proven with real data. Awkward cases are exercised deliberately: splits and partial completions, results arriving after dispatch, measurements from an instrument later found out of calibration.

06

Reconcile against physical reality, then hand over

Captured production must reconcile against physical counts and ERP confirmations, and reported figures must be explainable to the people whose line they describe. Handover includes runbooks for network loss, sync backlog, machine integration failure, and the reconciliation exceptions your team will meet in the first month.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which of the four systems should we start with?

Whichever pain is currently most expensive, and it is usually obvious once we look. If you cannot see what the floor is doing until shift end, start with execution. If the schedule your planners follow lives in a spreadsheet, start with planning. If assembling a batch record takes days, start with quality. If unplanned downtime is your largest loss, start with maintenance. We will tell you which after walking the plant, and we have advised clients to start somewhere other than where they intended.

Do we need custom software or would a package do?

Often a package is the better choice, and we say so when it is. Custom work makes sense when you need integration your equipment or plant systems cannot support off the shelf, when your process structure does not fit a product's assumptions, or when a package would force you to change working practices that exist for good reasons. If a product fits your operation, buying it will cost less and be supported longer.

Can you integrate our older machines?

Some of them, and we tell you which before you commit rather than after. Equipment varies from rich OPC UA data to a single output contact to nothing readable at all. We survey the asset base and produce a per machine statement. Where integration is not possible, operator entry is designed in deliberately. Any vendor promising uniform connectivity across a mixed age plant has not looked at it.

Will our operators and technicians actually use it?

Only if the correct action is faster than the workaround, which is the constraint we design to first. A completed unit recorded in one scan gets recorded; a form with a dropdown and a confirmation produces a paper tally within a week. We test interfaces in real conditions with the actual people before repeating the pattern, and we treat rejection as a design defect rather than a training problem.

What happens when the factory network fails?

Station and mobile clients buffer locally and continue working, showing clearly what is pending, then reconcile on reconnect with defined conflict rules. This is treated as a normal operating condition rather than an error, because in most plants it is. A system that stops accepting input when connectivity drops will be abandoned the first time it happens during a busy shift.

Can we roll out one line at a time?

Yes, and we recommend it strongly. One line proves the interface design, the integration approach, and the reconciliation before the pattern is repeated, and it gives the rest of the plant a working example rather than a promise. Whole plant cutovers concentrate every risk into one weekend, and the risk here is mostly human acceptance rather than software.

Do you have manufacturing case studies we can see?

We have two published case studies with client permission, both in hospitality rather than manufacturing, and they are in our portfolio. We will not present anonymised production metrics or unnamed client claims as evidence, because unverifiable figures tell you nothing useful when assessing a vendor. What we can do is walk your floor and discuss your actual constraints, which is a better basis for a decision anyway.

Can you guarantee our sector compliance?

No, and treat any vendor who says otherwise with suspicion. Compliance is assessed against you, not against us, and depends on your processes and people. AgileTech holds ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 27001:2013 for our own operations, which does not certify your product or process. We implement the requirements your quality and regulatory functions specify, and make the resulting records attributable and retrievable.

How do these four systems fit together?

Planning decides what to make and when, execution records what actually happened, quality records whether it conformed and what was done when it did not, and maintenance keeps the equipment available and feeds its windows back into the plan. They share asset and batch identity, which is why they integrate closely. You do not need all four, and building all four at once is rarely the right sequence.

How long does a manufacturing system take to deliver?

A first line or a focused single system is typically a few months, with floor observation, equipment survey, and interface testing taking a meaningful share of it. Extending across lines is faster per line, with machine integration on older equipment the usual variable. A whole plant across several systems is a staged programme, and we will not present it as anything shorter.

What do you need from us to begin?

Access to the floor for observation, an equipment list with controller types and any existing connectivity, your ERP and its interfaces, your traceability and retention obligations, and a representative product with its routing and bill of material. Time in the plant with the people who do the work is the single most valuable thing you can provide, and no document substitutes for it.
